Is it time for a Philippine Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT)? Governments around Asia have had REITs since early 2000. Japan and Korea were the pioneers. In just five years, the number of REITs has gone through the roof, from merely five in 2001 to around 80 in 2006. This includes Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

My one year charge to lead the Philippine Association of REALTORS^® Boards was centered on putting up front the realty industry through the professionalization of the realty sector. This was in tandem with a vigorous strengthening of PAREB’s plans and programs both at the national and local fronts.

The Philippine Association of REALTORS^® Boards, Inc. (PAREB) elected its national officers and directors for 2009 during the recently concluded 48th national convention and general membership meeting at the Legenda Hotel in Subic Free Port Zone, Zambales.
Elected National President was REALTOR^® Edmund C. Aceron, a duly-licensed real estate broker and real estate appraiser and an active real estate practitioner for over 30 years. Prior to his election as President, Aceron had served as its Board Chair, Senior Vice-President, National Treasurer and President of the Rizal Board of REALTORS^®.
